What to expect

Come as you are.

If you've never been to Lunara before, you may have questions about what happens when you arrive. You may be excited, curious, nervous, or simply unsure of what to expect.

That's okay.

There is no right way to arrive here.

Your first visit begins before you ever get on the table. We start with a conversation, so you have an opportunity to tell me what you're looking for, what your body needs, and anything you'd like me to know.

This is your session. You are welcome to ask questions, change your mind, request something different, or pause at any point.

Consent is ongoing.
Your comfort matters throughout the entire experience.

Finding Lunara
Parking can be a little confusing the first time, so here's what you'll want to know.
-There is free parking behind the building in the alley, which is also where GPS directions will typically bring you.
-There is also free parking along both sides of Oak Street.

On weekends, the gates at the back entrance of the building are locked. You can still access the office through the open gate on the Oak Street entrance side.

There is a detached bathroom available for you to use during your visit, as well as a place to get water and wash your hands.

If you need a moment before coming in, take it. You don't have to rush, but please try to be on time. Read more about my policies on cancelations and no shows

Arriving
When you enter the office, you'll find a small lounge where you're welcome to settle in if I'm still finishing up with another guest.

Help yourself to water or tea and make yourself comfortable.

If there isn't a wait and you don't need to use the facilities, we'll head into my private treatment room together.

This is where we'll begin by talking about the care you're looking for that day.

Before We Begin
Every body is different, and every session is different.

Before we begin, we'll talk about what you're hoping to receive from your time with me and what will help you feel comfortable.

We'll discuss things like:

  • Areas you'd like to focus on

  • Pressure preferences

  • Heat preferences

  • Scents or sensitivities

  • Relevant medical concerns

  • Areas you'd prefer not to have touched

  • Energy work and whether you'd like Reiki included

  • Any additional modalities or enhancements you'd like to explore

This is also the time to tell me anything else that feels important.
And you don't have to think of everything beforehand.

If something comes up during your session, use your words.
-Tell me if you'd like more or less pressure.
-Tell me if you're too warm or too cold.
-Tell me if something doesn't feel right.
-Tell me if you'd like to change something.

You never have to endure something simply because we discussed it before the session.
Your consent can change at any time.

Getting Comfortable
There is no requirement to undress completely for massage.
You are welcome to dress down to whatever level feels comfortable for you—from remaining fully clothed to undressing completely.

Whatever you choose, you will remain appropriately covered with a sheet throughout the session using professional draping practices.

Once we've finished our conversation, I'll step out of the room so you can get yourself situated on the massage table.

A sheet and blanket will be provided so you can cover yourself comfortably.

I'll use that time to wash my hands and take care of anything I need to before we begin.
When I'm ready, I'll return and we'll begin.

During Your Session
Your session is shaped around you.
Depending on what we've discussed, your massage may include a blend of therapeutic bodywork and additional modalities such as hot stones, cupping, lymphatic techniques, sound, or other intentional elements of care.

Reiki energy may also be offered throughout the session, when you've given consent for energy work to be included.
You don't have to understand Reiki or have an existing relationship with energy work to receive it. And you don't have to include it at all.
The intention is simply to offer what you've chosen and allow the experience to unfold in a way that feels supportive to you.

Throughout the session, you're encouraged to communicate.
You can talk.
You can be quiet.
You can ask questions.
You can request a change.
You can simply breathe and rest.

There is no expectation that you perform relaxation correctly.

After Your Session
When your massage is complete, I'll step out again so you have privacy to slowly come off the table and get dressed.

Take your time.
There's no need to jump up and rush into the rest of your day.

I usually leave a comfortable amount of space between appointments so you don't have to feel hurried.

When you're ready, we'll meet back in the lounge and spend a little time talking about your experience.

We'll check in about the pressure, what felt supportive, what you'd like to change next time, and how you're feeling after the session.

We'll take care of payment and, if you'd like to return, we can find a time for your next visit.
I'll also offer suggestions or simple practices you can explore between sessions to continue caring for yourself and supporting the work we've begun together.

You Are Always Allowed to Say No.
This may be the most important thing to know about your first visit.
You are allowed to change your mind.
You are allowed to ask for something different.
You are allowed to pause.
You are allowed to stop.
You don't need a reason.
Your body belongs to you.
Your boundaries belong to you.
And your experience with me is a collaborative one.

My role is not to tell your body what it needs.
It's to listen with you, offer what I can, and create a space where you can make informed choices about your own care.

Come as you are.

We'll begin there.

Please take a moment to read about Policies, Procedures and FAQ before your visit.
